Project Description:
This customer, one of the UK’s major sign manufacturers approached MegaLED Ltd to design specify and install a colour changing LED light wall for a London based shopping centre. The job was conceived to revamp the longest entrance wall into Lewisham shopping centre. The project took about 7days to plan in total covering design and ordering of parts DMX LED Lighting Controllers, enclosures, general project management. 3days 10hour days to complete the installation, light programming and final testing.
The result was an absolutely brilliant high impact colour changing light wall, some 128lightboxes 300mm x 300mm of size where installed into an ACM (aluminium composite material / wall cladding ) and placed behind a high output OPAL polycarbonate diffuser. The lighting system was a variation on our flat panel RGB lighting system. The design delivered an individually addressable, seamlessly animated light wall spanning 40metres in length.
LED Installation “Challenge”
Considering MegaLED engineers specified, supplied and installed all the lighting kit: PSU’s, RGB lighting bars, LED Drivers and Controllers, the only real lighting challenge was working out the wiring so we could instal fast, in a hassle-free, tool-free way. To do this we modified our DMX mini cards, removing the connection block terminals with flying leads then, taking into account different gauge wires source suitable 3M IDC connectors. We completed the installation rapidly, using a parallel power-rail wiring approach to power all 128no DMX Mini driver cards.
